lura-eclipseWe are in Africa for today’s Global Hit: on the island of Cape Verde. Tabanka is the name of this song.

Now Tabanka is an annual festival on Cape Verde. It features a parade where locals mock traditional figures. Tabanka is just one of the songs on a new album by the artist: Lura.

Lura was born and raised in Portugal, but she’s the daughter of Cape Verdean immigrants. And it’s that blend of cultures that’s evident on this CD. It’s called Eclipse.

Lura kicks off a month long tour in the US next week.

    I went to “month long tour in the US” and found what seemed to be the screen for her website, but no info.
    I want to go to one of her concerts and I could come to Boston. I live in Vermont. Can you assist me?

      I think if you go back to Lura’s site, and click on the Agenda button on the left hand side, you’ll get her upcoming tour dates. Looks like she’s in the States in July, but I didn’t see Boston on the list, unfortunately.
