This is a great piece. I spent a few months meeting the people who made my clothes in Bangladesh, Cambodia, and China, and I was kind of taken aback by the same sort of thing. Yes, the conditions are deplorable, but compared to what?

I find that when we look at global issues on a person-to-person perspective, we often see them much differently. Regardless of how distasteful the job and the conditions, these people are just trying to do what it best for their families and it's hard to argue with that.
