An addition to your list of -stan countries: I remember an “I Love Lucy” show episode in which Lucy (Lucille Ball, for youngsters’ benefit) pretended to be a Princess from “Franistan”. Ethel was her companion. Of course, Ricky didn’t recognize her at all. And Fred had no idea that it was really Ethel dressed up in harem pants. What a great show!
