A singer known as the “Queen of Afro-Peruvian Soul” is wrapping up a short US tour right now. Her name is Eva Ayllon. And her music is a mix of styles and influences.
This track is from her latest CD. It’s called Kimba Fa. That means joyous energy. That’s what Eva Ayllon exudes both on stage and off.
But she slows down occasionally — as in this track composed by her friend — the late Peruvian musician Chabuca Granda.
Eva Ayllon moved from Peru to the United States a few years ago. Since then, she’s played many American venues. The biggest was Carnegie Hall in New York last year. And she’s in New York again tonight as she continues her US tour.
Music from Eva Ayllon’s latest album “Kimba Fa” closes our program. Listen
