Finally today — we’re going to clue you in to a musical group from South Africa. They call themselves “Freshlyground.”

This 7-piece Afro-pop band has been around for a few years.

They got a break in 2006 — when they played for a worldwide audience during the soccer World Cup in Germany.

The band played during a hand-over ceremony — representing South Africa as the host of the NEXT World Cup in 2010. This weekend, Freshlyground will again take part in a symbolic ceremony. This time, they’ll be in New York to help launch Mandela Day. The day honoring the former South African president will include a concert at Radio City Music Hall. It will feature the likes of Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, and Aretha Franklin.

But our attention is firmly on Freshlyground. That’s “Fired Up” from Freshlygound’s lastest CD.

It’s called “Ma’Cheri.”
