A few years ago… Canyon Cody went to Spain on a Fulbright Scholarship. He went to study the global roots of flamenco. But along the way he started another project.
It began when his friend … the rapper and producer ‘Gnotes’ — real name Sean Dwyer — arrived in Granada. Together they built a recording studio there. Canyon Cody and Gnotes wanted to take traditional flamenco sounds and combine them with hip hop.
The result is their new album, ‘Granada Doaba.’ Canyon Cody and Gnotes dropped by recently to talk about their project.
Gnotes told me their studio was located in an appropriate spot.

I listened to your interview tonight and was so excited to hear that you two are looking at possibilities! It was great that you have opened the door for opportunities with your music! I play bongos on my own for fun and if I was more tech savvy, I would try to incorporate them into your piece. Thanks again for the inspiration and motiviation! Bendiciones!
I heard the story in the car, came home and downloaded the album and I’m in HEAVEN. Thank you for this wonderful music.
Excellent album! I’ve been playing it over and over and don’t seem to get tired of it. I also shared it with several friends, and they love it. Thank you for your music!
