Suaad Haji Mohamud is a Canadian citizen. In May, she went to Kenya, which is where her mother lives. But when she tried to leave the African nation, she ran into problems. When she handed over her passport to go home, the airline said she didn’t look like the woman whose picture was in the passport. A long legal battle is ongoing. Lisa Mullins talked with Suuad Haji Mohamud’s lawyer, Raoul Boulakia.

Below are pictures of Suaad Haji Mohamud from her passport, and from 2007. These were provided by Mr. Boulakia.

It shows how bad the system really is. 3 months holding a mom … did they think of tracking her charge cards or something that would show she is and upstanding citizen and was on a visit. Its another display on how inefficient profiling really is and actually meaningless when you pick on someone such as this person. I hope she hires a good, good international lawyer. I’m sure there was profiling involved is this case… no doubt!
