Delhi 2 Dublin: An Indian/Irish mash-up

D2D_charts_thumbThe band Delhi 2 Dublin, based in Vancouver, joins Irish fiddles with Indian tablas, sitars with electric guitar in a free-flowing mix of Indian bhangra and Irish jigs. The musicians call themselves bouncy bhangra-leprechauns and they’ve been climbing the Canadian world music charts with recent concerts this summer from Canada to California, and coming up from London to Singapore. Lonny Shavelson caught up with them in front of an up-and-dancing audience of more than 10,000 in San Francisco’s Stern Grove.

    I found the music really good. I’m a fan of both genres, and their fusion was extraordinary. I’m going to be looking for an album, for certain.
