Food prices soared to record highs in 2007- 2008. Since then the crisis has eased – commodity prices are down by a third since a year ago. But costs for staple items remain stubbornly high in many poor nations. Food costs aren’t the same everywhere, of course. There’s massive price variation in cities across the globe. Perhaps nothing has a greater impact on the way we live day to day.
