For today’s Geo Quiz, we’re going in search of the city that’s playing host to the 2009 Baseball World Cup. Sure, baseball is supposedly “America’s Pastime,” but you’ll want to look well beyond our borders to get the answer to today’s quiz. OK, we’ll narrow it down for you. We’re in Europe, in the city that actually first played host to this event. Baseball was introduced to the locals by American soldiers during World War II. OK, no more clues. Time for you get sleuthing, and for us to go grab some hot dogs.

Baseball is the theme of today’s Geo Quiz. You might think we’d be heading somewhere in North or South America.

But we’re looking for a city in Europe that’s famous for the sport. Baseball arrived on the shores of this city in 1944 with the arrival of American GIs.

They were there to liberate the locals, but they also ended up showing local kids how to use a bat and ball.
