The World’s William Troop reports on the stand-off in Honduras, where deposed president Manuel Zelaya is holed up in the Brazilian embassy in Tegucigalpa. Zelaya is demanding that he be allowed to return to power, while the de facto government that replaced him is demanding that Brazil turn Zelaya over to be arrested.

In your report on Honduras today, your commentator stated that Zelaya was ousted because he wanted to change the Constitution, to “allow himself a second term.” In fact, he just asked for a referendum on whether the people wanted to change the Constitution. Please check your facts — and possible biases — before reporting this kind of propaganda!
Normally, I like and respect your programs, but this has raised my hackles!
Respectfully,
Rosemary Snow
Bravo Rosemary, I came to the website to make the same comment. It is really disturbing that most U.S. news sources don’t do their homework on this. They just report the Coup leaders propaganda. Even a brief, cursory review of the facts reveals that all that was being planned was an advisory refrendum of sorts that would have in no way allowed Zelaya to run again in the Novemeber elections. I like The World, it is generally a good program, BUT PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
