Danish actress Ditte Arnth Jorgensen plays a single mother in the ad
Denmark’s official tourist board, VisitDenmark, has a history of being a bit edgy when it comes to its attempts to get tourists interested in coming to the country. But one of VisitDenmark’s latest video promotions seems to have crossed the line. In the three-minute clip, a young blond woman says she’s trying to find the father of her baby, named “August.” The baby is the product of a one-night stand with a tourist who had been visiting Denmark. VisitDenmark’s manager said the film was supposed to be a “nice and sweet story of a woman.” The country’s economy minister said the ad “was not a very well-thought-out picture of the country.” It’s sparked furor from some in Denmark, and VisitDenmark has pulled the ad from its website.
