“Doctors without Borders” are best known for their work in war zones but in the slums of Brazil they’ve also been helping people suffering from depression. In the Complexo do Alemao, a favela or shanty town in Rio de Janeiro – tens of thousands of people tread a fine line between the drug gangs and the police, leading to inevitable tensions and depression, as Gary Duffy reports.
