Download MP3Talk about a blast from the past: the legendary Brazilian psychedelic rock band Os Mutantes that was an engine of the 1960s Tropicalia Art movement in Brazil is resurfacing after 30 years of hiatus. Band leader and singer Sergio Dias lived and performed in and out of the United States during that time, he produced six solo albums.

Over the years, younger generations of musicians rediscovered Os Mutantes’ music several times. Both Kurt Cobain and the singer Beck tried to get them back together. But it took a misunderstanding to get the band to reunite for a special concert at the Tropicalia exhibition at the Barbican Center in London in May 2006. (Audio available after 5PM Eastern)
