
Beagá is the nickname for the south east Brazilian city we’re after in today’s Geo Quiz. It’s full name in Portuguese means “Beautiful Horizon.” The city’s got a great view of the Espinhaço Mountains.
The Brazilian embassy says this high altitude city is cool and refreshing. It’s a major cultural center too with libraries, universities, soccer stadiums and as one recent visitor reports, some very cool subway art parties:
“You pay you fare, you get on the subway, and you stop at every station, and at every station is a unique art experience, so I thought that was a really great idea, and we walked up these stairs to the subway platform, it’s like someone completely cranked the music up to eleven, it was just this loud cacophonous sound.”

Belo Horizonte
