“One of the most arresting radio programs I can remember…its telling was quite extraordinary.” That was the judgement of The Guardian newspaper’s reviewer, referring to this week’s edition of the BBC program ‘The Choice’. Produced for the UK domestic network BBC Radio 4, ‘The Choice’ features extended interviews with people who’ve made life changing decisions. Few have been more life-changing than Stuart Howarth’s who killed his abusive father. He talked with the BBC’s Michael Buerk.

I am deeply sorry for the crime I have committed and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and I offer my unreserved apology. Sadly, there are too many children around the world being hurt on a daily basis and also adults who walk around in isolation and fear created by their earlier abuse. I am a lucky one, I learned to look forward not back and today I live a life happy, joyous and free. I am self sufficient and have achieved the impossible. God bless the still suffering.
