I expect this enquiry to find that our government leaders lied to us about weapons of mass destruction being the reason for invading Iraq. I expect them to find that Tony Blair was in need of a friend in George Bush [post Clinton] and was prepared to offer anything in order to gain that friendship. I expect them to find that the actual reason for invading Iraq was due to the west running out of oil and gas and not wanting to deal with Russia. If they don't find this I consider it a cover up.

With the support of Mr Blair, George Bush began the war in Iraq in March, 2003. By then, the UN and IAEA had conducted 100's of inspections. There was no evidence of a nuclear program (Bush and Cheney's main rationale for the war). In particular, high tech tests of air, soil and water had detected no evidence of a nuclear program. Please consider a follow-up story that explains how and why most US allies refused to support Mr. Bush's reckless rush to war because of the results of the highly successful inspection program (to which Saddam had capitulated after some initial resistance).
