Honduran singer-songwriter Polache wrote this song, “Mira a Honduras,” for an ad campaign to promote tourism. The song became a hit in the Central American country.

‘Mira a Honduras’ turned Polache into a household name in Honduras. But his career took a turn for the worse in June.

Now, Polache’s songs don’t get played much on Honduran radio and TV. Reporter John Otis has written about the singer for Global Post.com.

  1. What’s this about Zelaya being the “former president” of Honduras? Legally, his term runs until 27 January 2010. Even the US State Department still refers to him as “President Zelaya” (see, for example, http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2009/dec/133121.htm ). Who appointed you to decide he’s no longer president?
