Honduran singer-songwriter Polache wrote this song, “Mira a Honduras,” for an ad campaign to promote tourism. The song became a hit in the Central American country.
‘Mira a Honduras’ turned Polache into a household name in Honduras. But his career took a turn for the worse in June.
Now, Polache’s songs don’t get played much on Honduran radio and TV. Reporter John Otis has written about the singer for Global Post.com.

What’s this about Zelaya being the “former president” of Honduras? Legally, his term runs until 27 January 2010. Even the US State Department still refers to him as “President Zelaya” (see, for example, http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2009/dec/133121.htm ). Who appointed you to decide he’s no longer president?
THAT IS WHY I AM PROUD OF BEING HONDURAN, HONDURAS IS A BEAUTIFULL COUNTRY.
GOB BLESS HONDURAS. AND GOD BLESS POLACHE FOR MAKING A SONG THAT REMEMBER US HONDURANS TO APRECIATE ARE GREAT COUNTRY.
This is our culture, this is how we speak “In Catracho”, like so many folk singer-songwriters around the world do ,Polache represents us down to the core, makes me proud to be HondureƱo!
