The answer to today’s Geo Quiz is Angel Falls. The world’s highest waterfall is located in the Venezuelan state of Bolivar. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has ordered that the name of this landmark should be changed to its earlier, indigenous name. Copenhagen climate conference
China and Indonesia have hailed the Copenhagen UN climate summit outcome, despite its cool reception from aid agencies and campaigners. President Obama defended the accord he helped broker with China and other main powers. The non-binding pact, called the Copenhagen Accord, was not adopted by consensus at the UN climate summit in Denmark.

The number one slot in Britain’s Christmas top forty is traditionally a soft and fluffy, family-friendly place. In recent years its been dominated by winners of British reality TV show ‘The X-Factor’. This year, a music fan decided he was “a bit bored with that” and organized a Facebook campaign which succeeded in consigning this year’s X-Factor winner to the number two slot. “Meaningful agreement” in Copenhagen

President Barack Obama said on Friday that a “meaningful and unprecedented breakthrough” had been reached among the US, China, and three other countries on a global effort to curb climate change but said much work was still be needed to reach a legally binding treaty. The President had earlier called on world leaders to come together to strike a deal on the final day of the UN climate summit in Copenhagen. Whatever may come out of Copenhagen, one tough issue that won’t go away soon is the controversy over Canada’s oil sands. Environmentalists are up in arms about the destructive impacts of extracting and refining bitumen in northern Alberta. Canada is under fire but it’s the US that buys much of the oil. New pipelines are under construction to bring even more of it south. The World’s Jeb Sharp reports. Download MP3

Matthew Brunwasser reports from Belgrade on a relaxation of European travel restrictions that allows people from Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia to enter other parts of Europe without visas.
