For today’s Geo Quiz we’re looking for a Greek island in the Aegean Sea. The island is named after a figure in Greek mythology who flew too close to the sun and fell into the sea. According to the myth, the flier’s body was dragged out of the water and buried on this island.

Greek Island

In real life — the island is known for the longevity of its inhabitants.

A study shows that people there are four times more likely to reach 90 years of age than the average American.

Some say it’s the island diet — which includes lots of greens and beans, very little meat, and a special kind of local honey.

Not to mention a low-stress lifestyle.

So what is the name of this easy-going island?

Geo Answer:
For today’s Geo Quiz, we were looking for a Greek island named after a mythical figure who flew too close to the sun.

That figure is Icarus. And we’re going to get the name of the island from a chef with a personal connection to the place.

That’s Ikaria.

A great Geo Quiz today! Really enjoyed listening to Diane Kochilas speak about the healthy foods of Greece. And when it was mentioned that she runs a cooking school, that was it for me!
At lunch, earlier today, my wife and I had discussed a name for our new cooking school idea. Listening to this broadcast today is a sign that we really are moving forward in the right direction with our own cooking school here in the states!

    Regards,
