You have commented today about the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, mentioning the controversy regarding the ecological concerns.
But you have made no mention, about the concerns of the native people of the Sochi Region in North Caucasus- the Circassians. These people, my people, were slaughtered by the Czarist Russian forces in the 19th century, a slaughter that many consider to be a genocide. Why else to more than 90% of the worlds 5 million Circassians no longer live in their historic lands in the North Caucasus- the result of Russian Ethnic Cleansing and Genocide. Circassians consider the 2014 Olympic games to be a disaster.
These Olympic Games will be played on what Circassians/Abkhazians consider hallowed grounds. Russia refuses to acknowledge their Genocidal actions in the 19th century, continue to make it nearly impossible for Circassians to return to their native land, and are further splitting up the Circassians with their recent political moves. I find it outrageous that the International Olympic Committee has overlooked the worlds forgetten genocide- The Circassian Genocide, and picked Sochi as the site of the next winter olympics. Sochi is the land of Genocide, and the world needs to recognize this, and as such should not be a place where the world comes to play!
