Clinton: Iran is becoming ‘military dictatorship’

Iran is “becoming a military dictatorship”, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said. She was speaking to students at a Qatar university during a tour of the region. She said Iran’s elite army corps, the Revolutionary Guard, had gained so much power they had effectively supplanted the government. Laura Lynch reports. Download MP3

Saipan is the largest island of the US Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. It’s 3,000 miles west of Hawaii and it was the last place to join the United States. Fierce battles were fought there with Japanese troops during WWII. Many who know Saipan today are deeply fond of the Pacific island. While we are following the Olympics, let’s not forget the world of cycling and its doping issues. Today a French judge issued an arrest warrant for American cyclist Floyd Landis. Landis won the Tour de France in 2006 but was disqualified and banned for 2 years after that for doping. The warrant was issued in connection with a case of computer hacking at a French laboratory in 2006.
