A new rule goes into effect for today’s Geo Quiz. The World Cup soccer tournament kicks off next month in South Africa.
Soccer’s powers-that-be have been busy planning and changing the rules. This week, they banned a move called the paradinha.
What is it you ask?
Well in short it’s a bit of flashy trickery that some soccer players perform as they take penalty kicks.
Some say the paradinha is a cool trick. Others say its un-sportsman-like. The question for you is: which country has elevated the paradinha to an art form?

We’re looking into a little controversy that’s popped up ahead of next month’s World Cup soccer tournament in South Africa.
It has to do with that move we mentioned in our Geo Quiz, called the paradinha.
William Troop joins us from The World’s World Cup soccer desk … actually he’s right here in the studio to explain what paradinha is. Paradinha…sounds like it might be a Portuguese word…am I right?
Paradinha in Portuguese means “little stop,” so Brazil is the answer to our Geo Quiz.
