In this episode of Talking Travel, we speak again with Paul Clammer, author of the Lonely Planet guide to Haiti. Paul was scheduled to go to Haiti in February for the country’s Carnival celebrations, but had to cancel due to the earthquake. But he did manage to spend a month there in April. Paul spent time in Port-au-Prince and in Leogane, near the epicenter of the quake. He shares his impressions of the tent cities that have sprung up in Haiti, assesses the recovery efforts, and talks about his decision to do a week of volunteer work clearing rubble.
