To our global hit now, and today we take you to Paris by way of Morocco, or perhaps Morocco by way of Paris. Hindi Zahra’s debut mixes jazz and blues with a generous measure of Moroccan folk music and a few dashes of funk. Reporter Thomas Marzahl caught up with the singer after a concert in Berlin. Thank you for the story on Hindi Zahra. I am now completely entranced by her music. If it were not for Public Radio, I would never have known about her.

I live in San Francisco, CA. I bounced online between French Amazon.com and the french-english dictionary website to decode exactly what I was clicking on to get her music in my hot little hands. Love her…Thanks Marco! (I only hope I clicked the right things and don’t end up getting billed $50…oh well, t’would be worth it!)

Her song was featured in a Western Union Ad a few months ago (at least that’s when I spotted her) and I loved the song – something about standing up on your own feet – but I didn’t know anything about the individual songstress. Thank you!

From the reporter who produced this story from Berlin: Thanks to the listeners who liked Hindi Zahra as much as I did – in concert she is even better!

There won’t be a physical album in the States, but a download is being made available come September… of course, if you want to pay upwards of $15 for shipping, you can also buy the physical album from Amazon in France.
