Anna Badkhen's talks about her culinary experiences in war zones (Photo: Marcus Wraight)
Anna Badkhen has eaten some strange meals in some strange places. She is not some celebrity chef on the road looking for exotic fare. She is a war correspondent. Badkhen has worked and traveled to some of the world’s toughest hot spots. Sometimes dinner would be a packet of trail mix in the back of an armored humvee, while at other times it would be a lavish four-course meal at the house of a local warlord. She has written about her experiences in her new book “Peace Meals: Candy Wrapped Kalashnikovs and other War Stories.” Anna Badkhen joins host Lisa Mullins in the studio to talk about her experiences breaking bread in war zones. Didn’t you promise the recipe to the rose cookie in the initial broadcast? It looks to good and since I grow organic old roses, may I ask what happened?

I, too, would love to have that recipe. Interestingly, it’s not even in the book which, by the way, is a great read.

Read it in a few days. Wonderful and matter-of-fact writing about ways of coping with a harsh world. Food for thought and a great gift to someone you care for.

Yes, I’m looking for the recipe, too. That story was a very interesting feature
