For today’s Geo Quiz we’re hitting some high notes. We begin our geo quiz with an aria from La Bohème. Soprano Maija Kovalevska sings the role of Mimi at the Metropolitan Opera. Her counterpart in the much loved Puccini opera is Rodolfo and that’s who we want to tell you about. Rodolfo was played by Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo who is from Tuscany. The city is a just a hop, skip, and a jump from Florence. He says its famous for its medieval square called Piazza Grande.

It’s always exciting when new voices emerge on the world’s opera stages. 33 year-old Vittorio Grigolo debuted this month at New York’s Metropolitan Opera as Rodolfo in La Bohème. Producer Renata Rosso sent us this opera portrait.
