Overturned truck in Ontario (Photo: BBC)

Drifting snow and white out conditions caused havoc yesterday on Highway 402. Hundreds of motorists were stranded there in the middle of a nasty snowstorm. Some had to be rescued by military helicopters and four wheel drive vehicles. We’ll hear how some local residents helped with the rescue, too.

But first, where is Highway 402? It’s also known as King’s Highway 402 and its western end is the Blue Water Bridge. That’s an international crossing between the US and Canada, spanning the St. Clair River.

Geo Answer:

The answer is southern Ontario. Anchor Lisa Mullins speaks with Heather Helps, who lives on a farm in the nearby Ontario town of Wyoming, and helped in the rescue effort.
