Celtic Thunder is a great mixture of 5 individual voices and ensemble too.These lads were chosen over many entrants to a contest in Ireland & Wales. Their first album was a nice showcase of their voices.

My global music pick for 2010 is an Ethiopian-American collaboration between Fendika from Addis Ababa and Debo Band from Boston. Their 4-song CD, titled “Flamingoh”, was recorded live in Zanzibar and reinvents classic Ethiopian jazz through an array of instruments that wouldn’t seem to fit together but magically do. Debo and Fendika give outstanding vocal performances set to unusually danceable big band beats. Incredible!

I really think that the Canadian/Iranian band Niyaz bears serious consideration. their album, Nine Heavens, is very very good.
