So where can you buy this CD set? None of the links here get you anywhere where it looks like you can order it. I would love to get it for my Indian mother-in-law.

You will find it on Amazon.com. In the music category, a search for keywords: “History Indian Film Music cd box set” will bring up the entry. It goes for $74.77. However, it is currently not available. The item listing states “….Not in stock;… we’ll deliver when available”. Good Luck!

Terrible overview. The English reviewer seemed to know nothing about Indian films songs! Did he stop at the first disc of the set or something? And that kind of reactionary Western opinion about how actors singing their own songs being superior is really misunderstanding how Bollywood music really works.

Not a single mention of Mohammed Rafi? Kishore Kumar? RD Burman? Come on!

And anybody who thinks contemporary Bollywood is all slick pop music needs to listen to up and coming new film song composer Amit Trivedi.
