Some ancient axes, cleavers, and scrapers are your first clues for the Geo Quiz. Greek and American archaeologists have been finding these tools on an island in the Mediterranean. Yes, we’re looking for its name.

It’s the largest of the 6,000 or so Greek islands. And here’s how one of the lead scientists describes the village where those prehistoric artifacts turned up:

“This area faces to the south and the Libyan Sea, its wonderful little village with mountains and gorges behind it, and well watered palm trees”.

So try to name this large island in the Mediterranean, an island with those well-watered palm trees and well-studied prehistoric tools.

Geo Answer:

The answer is Crete, where one of the most significant archeological finds of the past year occurred. Anchor Lisa Mullins finds out more from Thomas Strasser, part of the team that uncovered evidence of some very early sea voyages.
