Hi Ann-Marie. I think when people talk about journalism being dead it's like when we talk about the music industry being dead. The music itself isn't dead, just how we listen. Same with news. The structures around the news are transforming but the work of journalists doesn't change. People like Lynsey will always have to be out there.

Thanks for the beautiful tribute and insight. I don't know her personally but admire her work. How lucky we are to be in the world with such courageous and talented women. I am glad I read this. It's become a sort of chant that journalism is dead but here we see that it clearly is not.

Linsey is a dear friend of my daughter, Lisa, who just happened to be visiting me in Wisconsin this week with the boys. She was visiting friends and I was returning home from a dentist appointment with a local classical music station on. They began to give the news and I heard that four journalists were missing in Libya - I immediately thought to myself, I hope it's not Linsey when the reporter read off the names and said, "Linsey Addario" - I felt as though I'd been shot in the heart - I was stunned. I immediately phoned Lisa and told her. For the last few days we've been praying, waiting and hoping for good news. Today it came. We hope none of the journalists were harmed in any way. Linsey is a very special, courageous, dedicated woman - our prayer is that she will be reunited with her devoted husband today!
