This is horrible, a horrible idea. The representative of the Greyhound Board in Ireland is completely naive if he thinks Ireland will be able to manage breeding of Greyhounds abroad. The owner of two Greys myself, I find the behavior of the Irish Greyhound Board simply dumb, misguided, naive, and they should be held uniquely responsible for the abuse of these awesome dogs, abuse I have no doubt will occur, given the lack of respect racing or competitive animals have in Asian cultures.

This ridiculous plan to send these gentle hounds to a country with such a dreadful culture regarding animals and dogs in particular is not only obscene but is sheer economic suicide. the world is watching in horror at the outcome of this insane notion from adrian neilam and the IGB and if it goes ahead the Irish tourism industry will suffer a monumental loss and the economy will be completely in ruins. The plan to put money before elfare will backfire spectacularly

I totally agree with the above. There should be no breeding of greyhounds. These dogs should not have to endure anymore abuse or any kind of torture. I have always owned greyhounds, the best dog I have ever had, so beautiful, gentle and always unconditional love. I would do whatever I can to save these dogs. I am trying to spread the word about this situation and will continue to do so. Julieann Malvarosa I got Ibe as a pup and had him for nine years, lost my big boy due to diabetes, also have another 6 year old grey

To find out more & the latest information please visit this FB page. There is also a petition you can sign to try to stop this barbaric cruelty from going ahead. The IGB are thinking once more of only profit & once again exploiting the dogs with no regard to their welfare!

This plan is the most morally bankrupt plan ever to come out of Ireland. The Irish Greyhound Board knows that their suggestions of having IGB reps “watch over” hounds in China and then “rehome” them in Europe is absurd. They don’t take care of the dogs in Ireland, much less those out of sight in China.

Do they take the world for a bunch of idiots?

What a despicable idea. To say that the welfare of these dogs is non-existant is an understatement. The ultimate betrayal to end in torture and death. Greyhound racing is cruel and inhumane. Greyhounds endure lives of nearly constant confinement, kept in cages barely large enough for them to stand up or turn around. While racing, many dogs suffer and die from injuries including broken legs, paralysis, and cardiac arrest. And many greyhounds are euthanized every year, as the number retired from racing exceeds the number of adoptive homes.

At racetracks across the country, greyhounds endure lives of confinement. According to industry statements, greyhounds are generally confined in their cages for approximately 20 hours per day. They live inside warehouse-style kennels in stacked cages that are barely large enough to stand up or turn around. Generally, shredded paper or carpet remnants are used as bedding.

An undercover video recently released by GREY2K USA shows the conditions in which these gentle dogs are forced to live: http://www.grey2kusa.org/azVideo.html

Dogs play an important role in our lives and deserve to be protected from industries and individuals that do them harm.
