Getting ready for a presidential visit

President Obama’s travel plans figure in this Geo Quiz: So where is he going?

“We’re all so excited in this tiny village in the center of Ireland its in a county called Offaly and its on the border with Tipperary and it’s in the center of Ireland there’s so much excitement. There’s only about 350 people living in the village but everybody has really come out on the street and the community spirit is very much alive since they found out that US President Barak Obama is definitely coming.”

And the locals are” definitely” excited about the visit. Those locals include two pub owners who both hope the president stops in for a pint, and a very distant cousin of the President.

Mr. Obama’s great, great, great grandfather lived in this town before coming to America in the 1850s and it is Moneygall in County Offaly, Ireland. Anchor Marco Werman speaks with Eimear Ni Bhraonain, a reporter for the Irish Independent about the mood in Moneygall.

His G-Grandfather was a Kearney whose mother was a Donovan.  He married a Holloway girl after he moved to Tipton Cty, Indiana before moving to Kansas. So, not only is Barack Irish, but also Hoosier. We’ll expect him at the 100th running of the Indy 500 on May 30th to sit with AJ Foyt in the Pace Car
