smart alec, the allies gave them supplies. germans didn't. germans shared their animosity toward partizans and socialism, and fascist ideology. but germans did not have the goal of greater serbia, extermination of ustashas (who were their allies), minorities, and all the muslim population. to germans, chetniks were the sly fake supporters. that was a correct judgement by their delusional leader. hence, british aid was of great importance to chetniks. british were also royalists, and accepted serbian king in london.
chetniks hid their killing of partizans from the brits, because the partizans were recognized as the only strong resistance force in yugoslavia (and entire balkans). partizans received the main part of the support since the summer of 1943. that's why chetniks saved the airmen (nowhere near 500), to try to get the west to reverse their new position of supporting only partizans.
king peter II got 'scolded' for the chetniks' actions.
chetniks were, and remain a cowardly force that uses terror techniques and attacks from safety (when and where they are a majority and considerably stronger). they failed whenever they were confronted with equals, probably in good part because they were invading others' territories with goals of ethnic cleansing, torture and looting, where they expect little to no resistance.
big bullies without much gut, but very dangerous among peaceful and civilized people, both in serbia, and in surrounding areas.
american president truman gave the medal to draza because he DID save the airman, whom he could have easily killed in serbian dominated territory.

It's all too easy to focus on a bunch of Serbian tough guys. Instead, why not ask some tough questions?

Why did the United States act to break up Yugoslavia? If it was okay for Bosnia to secede from Yugoslavia, why was it wrong for Serbs to secede from Bosnia? Why did NATO collude in the ethnic cleansing of Serbs from Croatia?
