Gaddafi’s spy chief ‘captured’

December 16: The death of Libya’s former leader Muammar Gaddafi “creates suspicions” of war crimes, says the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.

Luis Moreno-Ocampo said the ICC was raising the concern with Libya’s National Transitional Council (NTC).

Gaddafi was killed on October 20 after being caught by rebels in his home town of Sirte.

Rebels Capture Gaddafi’s Compound

Libyan rebels have taken control of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s Bab al-Aziziya compound in Tripoli, one of the final areas that remained under his control. TV footage showed fighters breaking off the head of a statue of the Libyan leader and kicking it along the ground. They also seized items from his home. It is not known if Gaddafi or any of his family are inside the compound. Host Marco Werman gets the latest from the BBC’s Rana Jawad in Tripoli.

Europe Has Eyes on Libya’s Oil

The rebels stormed Gaddafi’s compound in Tripoli on Tuesday, but NATO says it will continue operations over Libya for now. NATO won’t be the only international presence. The Battle for Libya’s Capital

Libyan rebels are battling troops loyal to Colonel Muammar Gaddafi for control of Tripoli, after they launched an assault on the capital from several directions. Rebel commanders say they have taken control of about 80 percent of the capital, including the headquarters of state TV. But fighting is still raging in parts of the city, and the rebels have not managed to find the Libyan leader. Reporter Marine Olivesi is in Tripoli.

This video was filmed on Aug. 21 at 5:45 p.m. Libyan time from Al Zil Street, near al Ankudy mosque in Tripoli. The crowd is chanting the new Libyan national anthem followed by chants of “God is Great”. The new rebels’ flag is seen floating on a building. The crowd also taunts Gaddafi by chanting, “Ole Ole, Gaddafi your time is up”.
