Our Geo Quiz takes us to a South American city. Visitors can now take a controversial tour: it follows in the footsteps of the infamous Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar.

Colombian police pursued Escobar for years, finally hunting him down in 1993. The rooftop where he was shot to death is on the tour. Escobar’s brutal cocaine trafficking business once defined this city to the outside world.

Since then, people there have moved on. Colombia’s second largest city is now better known for its vibrant fashion industry.

So what’s the name of this city?

The answer is Medellin where tourists can now go on a controversial “Pablo Escobar Is History Tour”. Anchor Lisa Mullins gets details about the from Marcela Mariscal who manages “See Colombia Travel.”

Your coverage seemed to call into question the wisdom of the tour. That Pablo Escobar wielded terrible power in the Colombian drug trade is a fact. His place in Colombian history, however sinister, is also undeniable. Despite being perversely named, Escobars’ tour details history.

The proceeds at least are for a worthy cause, which brings me to my second point — that being the double standard. Today there are ”for profit” tours for Al Capone and John Dilinger in Chicago; of Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich in Munich. Shouldn’t these tours be viewed with greater contempt?
