Grupo Cimarron is from Colombia.

The group plays a fiery kind of music called “music llanera.”

It is traditionally played by cattle herders of the vast plains of Colombia.

Plains that stretch out to the Orinoco river and western Venezuela.

The cattle herders and farm workers in that region continue an old tradition.

After a day’s work, they would get together and play joropo, the local traditional music and dance.

Marco Werman introduces us to the traditionally rooted music of the plains.

    Joropo or llanera music is not COLOMBIAN. Its true this is traditional music that both Colombia and Venezuela share. The reality is that joropo is the national musical tradition from Venezuela, while vallenato is the national musical tradition of Colombia. Even in the wikipedia description of the traditional music consider joropo the traditional music of Venezuela and a regional style of music for Colombia. I would like the people of the world would clarify the difference as this is of significance importance for both countries identities

    I think the groupo Cimarrons are extrememly talented. They have a fast tempo, and they are in perfect sync. They seem like they practice everyday. Writing a verse everyday seems like a lot of work. That’s a lot to think about and how to fit it with the beats, too, seems like a lot of work. Their music is music people would dance to, which is nice.

    I think the groupo Cimarrons are extrememly talented. They have a fast tempo, and they are in perfect sync. They seem like they practice everyday.     I think this group of musicians are very close, adn seem to have been working together for quite some time. Their music is wonderful and I’m sure everyone in Colombia listens to it, or they should. It’s got a lot of upbeat tempos that just make anyone want to sing and dance with them. They seem busy with their music and working on the ranch so their lives must be hard work.

    I noticed in the first video that the kids seemed to enjoy themselves while the music was being played. Grupo Cimarrón definitely have a passion for what they do and show it well. The beat is catchy, tempo is fast and upbeat, and is interesting whether or not you can translate the lyrics  ;D   I found it a bit humorous but also interesting that the singer has quite the background story behind his passion for singing such as skipping school to see shows, singing on the path to the pond to gather water, singing to the animals he heards and takes care of, and coming up with at least 1 verse everyday.

    I think that this group has very fast tempos and most of their music you can dance and sing along with. It is amazing that they are able to play insturments like that.  Also I found it interesting that the way their music career started was by singing in the plains.  It seems that all of the verses they come up with have to do with their life and it is important to them.  I probably would not listen to them but im sure many people do, and it is great music to dance too.

    Grupo Cimarron is very talented. In the begining of the audio, it says that country music has never sounded so good, which surprised me because I didn’t know this was country music, it sounds so different than what you hear on country music radio stations. After seeing the second video, it shows where they get their motivation to write such fast paced music, because herding the animals and taking care of them seems to take alot of time and energy, and they relieve themselves by writing this music. I really do like this band and I have alot of respect for them, however it is not the type of music I would see myself listening to on my own.

    Me gusta Grupo Cimarrón. Su música es muy rápido y divertido. Me gusta que el grupo está siguiendo sus tradiciones. También me gusta quedespués un día de trabajo en las fincas, se relajanpor tocando música.

    Uno de los aspectos más interesantes de la cultura es como la música de esta cultura se ve influenciada por la vida de los músicos. Por ejemplo, los agricultores viven en zonas rurales de Colombia con sus animales. Obviamente que la influencia de su música. Estas son personas que crean música en su entorno y vivir en el campo. Mientras que algunos músicos que nació en la ciudad, escribiócanciones de los edificios y los taxistas, los músicos que vivían en una parte remota del país, escribió de las vacas y el trabajo duro. Tambien, tienen talento que viene de sus experencias de granja. Es musica real.

    El grupo Cimarrón es muy divertido y el ritmo de los instrumentos hacen un ambiente alegre. Los videos que muestran enseñan todo el talento y dedicacion que los trabajadores tienen.  Despues de un dia muy largo y los trabajadores estan cansados, ellos reflejan su felicidad y corazon en la musica que es de su cultura. Esta musica tambien refleja generaciones de talento tocando intrumentos y escribiendo canciones del trabajo que se realiza en las fincas.

    Me gusto eso musica porque yo recuerda la musica que yo oigo cuando yo visita a Mexico muchos veces. La musica latino me ayuda para recuerdar mis experiencias en Mexico y mi familia que estan ahi. La musica es de la corazon y el tierra que los caballeros cantan y escriban y la musica pinta una pintura cuando yo oigo.

    Me gusto la musica latina proque ayudame a recordar mis experiencias en mis viajes a Mexico. Todo que yo vi en los videos es conectado con mis recuerdos de Mexico. Los caballeros cantan y escriban musica desde la corazon y la tierra. La musica es un gran parte de la vida diaria de la gente de los fincas.

    The Joropo is a musical style from Venezuela shared by Colombia as both countries are like brothers. Very nice band with some variations from the typical Joropo. As a reference please look for: Anselmo Lopez, Simon Diaz, Ignacio “El Indio” Figueredo, brothers Reyna, Alirio Diaz and songs such as: Caballo Viejo, Alma Llanera, Los Caujaritos, etc

    La música del Grupo Cimarrón es muy única y entretenida.  La música es muy rápida y el grupo usa instrumentos diferentes.  Los hombres del Grupo Cimarrón tienen mucho talento y una pasión para la música.  Además, el llanero es muy interesante porque él canta a los animales.  El llanero aprendió a cantar en su casa y practique mucho.  Los hombres escribieron las letras de las canciones.  Me gusta la música del Grupo Cimarrón porque es muy divertida y diferente.  La música es importante y estimulante porque es una parte de la cultura de Colombia.
