A senior cleric at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral has resigned over the handling of ‘Occupy London’ protests outside.

Giles Fraser, the Canon Chancellor of St Paul’s, told a British newspaper, he believed the cathedral authorities had set a course of action that could entail violence in the name of the church.

The church authorities have asked the protesters to leave.

I’ve been listening to the complaints about the occupy protests and how they’ve inconvenienced many people – including some of the cooks supplying the OWS movement in NYC.  I haven’t heard anyone in the media or any representatives of the OWS movements suggesting or discussing adopting the tactic used so successfully in Egypt.  Through the middle period of the protests after the initial fervor had flagged slightly and before it was clear the government would respond, the organizers in Egypt scheduled protests on two specific days per week.  I realize there often are no official organizers of these protests, but I would think that could still be accomplished.  It would be helpful in that it would sustain the movement while helping keep the tone peaceful and also make the protests more manageable for the protesters and those inconvenienced by them alike.
