Making a blanket statement such as Tuna is nearly extinct (sorry I don't have the exact quote by Marco Werman) is ridiculous, irresponsible and extremely poor reporting. Since Mr. Werman clearly hasn't researched what he is reporting let me attempt to clue him in. There are numerous Species and subspecies of Tuna. While Atlantic Bluefin Tuna may be overfished, most other tuna species are in excellent condition. Tuna breed in great numbers, grow very fast and can sustain high levels of harvest. My daughter would have never made such an irresponsible comment in her high school newspaper. Mr Werman is supposed to be a professional. Maybe he should act like it and report news objectively and truthfully without pushing some hidden environmental or political agenda.
