June and Jean Millington have been dubbed “The Godmothers of Chick Rock.”

The two sisters were born in the Philippines. In 1961 they moved to California and discovered rock and roll.

They became full blown rock stars in the 1970s with their group Fanny.

The sisters have a new album out, it’s called “Play Like a Girl.”

Below, Lisa Mullins asked June Millington about her striking white hair.

    Very nice snapshot of your journey – but no time to mention your fine work with young women and girls at IMA in Goshen MA … perhaps listeners will google that to find out! Congrats on the new album!

    I remember them and loved them back in the 60′s when they were the Svelts, and Wild Honey and finally Fannie. I used to open for them with my band at the Coconut Grove in Santa Cruz Ca. (SURF CITY) and other places and I also remember that a lot of guys from different bands would get a little pissed off because Jean and June played better than they could. They were beating the guys at their own game. But we also respected them for it. Good luck to them and ROCK ON!

    Girl Power still go- go- going strong! If I look as cool as June in 11 years, I will let my gray hair grow all out too. :-)
