We’re playing polo for the Geo Quiz: Some of the world’s best polo players are currently competing in the Argentina Open Polo Championship.

The venue is one of the barrios or neighborhoods of Buenos Aires.

This posh neighborhood we want you to name borders on the Rio de la Plata, the river that divides Argentina from Uruguay

Iconic revolutionary Che Guevara once lived in the neighborhood.

But for the next two weeks all attention is on what the locals call the “Cathedral of Polo.”

So which barrio of Buenos Aires is this ‘cathedral’ to be found?

The answer is Palermo. Anchor Lisa Mullins gets details from Pascal Renauldon who’s covering the competition for Equestrio magazine.

    No conozco mucho de “polo”.  Es un deporte interesante, y yo quiero conocer mas de lo. Pienso que es interesante cómo lugares diferentes tienen deportes tipicos diferentes que en otros paises no reconoce. Me gustaria ir a un partido de polo en el futuro. En el verano en Rhode Island, nosotros tenemos el ïnternational polo series¨ en Newport, y ahora yo quiero atender.

    Estoy de acuerdo con Rosa; no conozco mucho sobre el deporte de “polo”, pero es un deporte muy interesante.  Yo no sabía que “polo” es muy popular.  Palermo, el barrio de Buenos Aires, es la “catedral de polo”.  ¿Cuantas personas van al campeonato en Argentina? Me gustan las fotos del artículo: los caballos son muy bonitos. También, el
    deporte de polo parece peligroso, pero divertido.  Cuando yo era pequeña, yo fui a montar a caballo- ¡fue divertido pero difícil! El “polo” es más difícil y requiere mucho talento y valor.

    I dont know much about polo. I would definately like to learn about the sport though. I think it is very interesting. I would like also, to know who wins the big event. I think different sports are cool. Polo is not a sport American’s see everyday. Well, I don’t anyways.

    I think this really cool. It’s interesting to see how different countries have different sports. I’ve never seen or heard of anyone playing polo here in the United States. In Argentina, where the championship is being held that has people from all over the world, it seems as if polo is a very popular sport that people like to watch, sort of like football here in the United States. In the photos the sport looks so proper. I think it would be really cool to be able to see this one day in the US and be able to watch.

    I don’t know much about polo and I definitely didn’t think it was a popular sport in South America. I thought that it was a popular sport in England. I don’t think that polo is a very popular sport because it involves more than just people. A polo player must know how to work with their horse as well as their team and they also must handle the polo ball and their mallet. Polo reminds me of croquet. I think it would be really cool if America got involved with polo, I think it would become really popular very quickly

    Al igual que Graciela y Rosa, yo no se mucho sobre el polo. Creo que es un deporte interesante. Es unico. Creo que es lo unico, porque el jugador tiene que saber manejar un caballo y jugar al juego. Es probable que sea interesante de ver.

    Yo no sé mucho de polo como un deporte pero sabía que es popular en el Sur América. Es un deporte muy interesante porque es necesario que la persona y el caballo trabaje con juntos. Creo que sería interesante a mirar un partido de polo. Conozco una persona que viaje a Argentina mucho y ella juga polo mucho. Es muy interesante que otros paises tiene deportes diferentes que celebran.

    Cuando yo pienso sobre el deporte de polo, no pienso de la América del sur. Pensaba que las Europas juegan fútbol, pero estaba incorrecta. A mí, el deporte de polo es muy difícil y intimidante. Tendría que mantener un caballo mientras jugando un deporte difícil… gracias pero no gracias. Fútbol es suficiente difícil para mí, cuando puedo jugar a pie. Pero tengo mucho respecta por los jugadores de polo. Son muy talentos, y me alegre que Argentina tiene el campeonato de polo.

    I never really knew that polo was a sport and I didnt know that it was as popular as is it in south America. I think that it is really nice that there are different sports in other counties because it could maybe become famous in the united states. It seems really fun and interesting so I would like to try it someday. If polo become a sport in the united states many people will be interested in it and it be a great hit.

    No sé mucho sobre polo, pero no estoy interesado en esto. Sólo sé que tiene gente montar caballos y los jinetes golpear una pelota con un palo. Creo que es interesante que Che era del mismo barrio que el campeonato. Se añade a la atmósfera del evento. Creo que es interesante que los equipos de todas partes del mundo están jugando.

    To be honest I had no clue Polo was called Polo. I always called it those games on horses where you wear big hats. It was interesting to know it was a very popular sport in South America. To me, i find it faciniating to know that this sport is with not just people but with animals. It must be very hard to play the sport polo because you have to have control of the horse as well as yourself. I wonder if horses get hurt during these games a lot. I know one of my friends have gone to a polo game with her country club friends. I know it is a well known sport for the rich. I think polo would be a very intersting thing to learn how to play. It would be cool if schools were able to have a polo team. It is cool how in America, football, baseball and basketball is our most common and in South America it is Polo.

    Estoy de acuerdo de los otros de la clase, no sé nada de polo.  Nunca lo vio en la televisión o lo juego.  Creo que es un deporte interesante y divertido pero no sé.  Es interesante que sea un deporte muy popular en otros países pero en EEUU no.  Quiero ver un partido de polo porque creo que es interesante para ver.  Pienso que yo vi polo de agua en los Juegos Olímpicos, pero no sé.

    Lo unico que yo ha oido del Polo es que es un deporte para los ricos. En Gossip Girl, la gente de la familia Van Der Bilt juega este deporte cada cuatro de Julio. Yo encuentro este de ser muy clasico y interesante pero a la misma vez yo creo que es muy aburrido. Yo nunca supe que en America del sur jugaban Polo, siempre creia que era un deporte de Francia. Crees que Che jugo el Polo alguna vez?

    A mi el polo me parece un deporte muy interesante. Es muy popular en Argentina, y me parece genial que el Che haya vivido en el mismo barrio en el que el campeonato se lleva a cabo. Nunca jugue Polo pero me pareceria divertido intentarlo, mas que nada porque nunca monte un caballo.

    I knew of Polo before but never really knew where it was popular because you don’t hear too much about it in North America. I like that the sport has to do with horses. Other than owning horses for joy riding, I think using them for Polo is the next best thing. It takes a lot of work to train your horse and train yourself to be compatible with each other and to do well in the game. I didn’t think the sport would be big enough to hold Championships so that impressed me. I like that they take so much interest in the sport.
