Waiting for News from Syria

The tent where these Syrian refugees live in Jordan contains some cushions, blankets and a TV with a satellite hook-up. When the grown-ups put on the news from Syria, the kids started chanting along with the crowds shown on screen: “The people want the downfall of the regime!”

The children came to Jordan from Syrian villages near the city of Hama. Now, they’re living in tents outside the capital of Amman. Their parents are hoping the situation in Syria calms down soon, so they can go home.

I hope everything gets better soon. When a country is in a mess, the poorest victimes are children.

Refugees of the 2011–2012 Syrian uprising or Syrian refugees are Syrian nationals, who have fled Syria with the escalation of the 2011–2012 Syrian uprising. The refugee problem has begun unfolding across Syrian borders on April 2011, intensifying with the siege of Talkalakh and the unrest in the Syrian province of Idlib. As a result, thousands of Syrian citizens fled across the border to Lebanon and Syria by summer 2011.
