The hotel where I’m staying in Amman is teeming with Libyans seeking medical care in Jordanian hospitals.
A friend here tells me that’s the case with most hotels.
These are a couple of guys I met in the lobby yesterday. Both of them had pretty nasty injuries from the fighting last year.
The one in the foreground introduced himself to me as ‘Sugar’.
He said his arm was torn up by AK-47 rounds. But months of surgeries and therapy in Jordan, Europe and the US, he said, have helped him regain use of his arm and hand.
UPDATE: Turns out, Sugar did not travel to the US. I blame my poor Arabic for the misunderstanding. With help from my brilliant interpreter, a second listen to the interview revealed that he was actually referring to somewhere in Germany. My bad.
