Aung San Suu Kyi has become something of a celebrity in the past 20 years. A rock star, even.

So perhaps she’s in need of publicity for her world tour worthy of a rock star. We imagine what that might sound like.

This was a cheap and  disgusting piece, disrespectful of a brave and heroic woman.    This sort of rubbish wasn’t evident when Desmond Tutu finally achieved freedom.
    Shame on you.

Your “rock star” view of Awg Sung Su Kyi was one of the most cynical and corrupt display of journalism that I have ever encountered. I knew she was being set up by your program since you called her a celebrity and rock star but not a hero. In your cynical world only dead journaists are heroes, not a woman who advocates nonviolence and true democracy. The World has shown its true contempt for decent values of respect, trying to trivialize a great woman and leader.

Your “rock star” treatment of Aung San Suu Kyi was appalling and outrageous. Not one of the other human rights figures (all men), mentioned in your piece would ever have been treated with such disrespect. Why is praising a woman unequivocally for her strength, courage, bravery and humility still so hard? Aung San Suu Kyi and we, the listeners deserve an apology.

Rock star treatment by the media — sad, but certain.  How else are they (media) going to digest this symbol of courage and integrity?

The news part of the piece was reasonably well done. However the “She’s a Lady” mix at the end completely ruined any journalistic credibility you and the producers of this show ever had. Was it supposed to be enlightening in some way? It was not
Was it supposed to be funny or clever or cute? it was not and I was offended by it and the cheapness you seem to put on “the lady”
Hard to believe someone spent time doing that and further that a producer let it run or worse asked for it to be done.
    Unprofessional, supremely disrespectful.

So disrespectful, I could not believe that you compaired her to the greatest human rights and peace activist of the last several generations then come up with that degrading and trashy rock star piece.  That was nothing like this women, your producer should listen to her speeches, she has earned the worlds respect and the fact that she has won the honor of the highest civilian award in several countries as well as being a member of the elite group that have won the Noble Peace prize.  This is a global role model and should be given that respect…the term “The Lady” is used with reverence in Myanmar.
