For the Geo Quiz, we are setting eyes on high-wire artist Nik Wallenda as he is set to walk the 1,800 feet across the gorge of Niagara Falls while balancing on a two-inch-wide steel cable. It’s the first time the stunt has been tried in 100 years. The event will be televised live.
Wallenda will attempt to cross Niagara from the US side over to Ontario, Canada. He has fierce winds and icy spray to contend with, not to mention a very narrow and shaky cable to balance on.
Wallenda comes from a long line of Wallendas. Karl Wallenda, Nik’s great great grandfather, founded the acrobatic family troupe. He was born in a German city in 1905 and that is the city we want you to name.
It is a city on the Elbe River. Coincidentally, it’s also the same German city that was the answer to yesterday’s Geo Quiz.
Magdeburg, Germany is the answer to the Geo Quiz.
Anchor Lisa Mullins talks to circus historian Deborah Walk to talk about the much-anticipated attempt walk over Niagara Falls.
