Omar Souleyman is a wedding singer in Syria. He goes from village to village, serenading newlyweds. But in the US, he has become an underground star.
The American independent record label Sublime Frequencies released some of Souleyman’s music and now the hippest of the hip want to be in his presence. His current string of concert dates pairs Souleyman with the retro psychedelic sounds of the band Dengue Fever.
