Gun Culture in Israel

In Israel, guns are seen in public more than they are in the US. But per capita, Israelis own far fewer firearms than Americans. (Photo: Alon Tuval)

It’s been four days since the movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado.

And here are a couple of things that have and have not happened.

Firearms sales in Colorado have spiked, with reports of lines of people outside gun stores.

What hasn’t happened since the shootings is much of a call to restrict firearms, or tighten the regulations for how they’re sold.

There were such calls after some other mass killings in recent years.

In Israel, the debate over gun control has been settled: you can have a gun if you want, but you better be able to use it properly.
