For this edition I’ve chosen perhaps the most critically lauded album Norwegian album so far this year.

It’s called “The Silicone Veil” by the 26-year-old singer-songwriter Susanne Sundfør.

These dramatic, ambitious songs are perfect examples of pop and art music.

Here’s the video to the first single off the album “White Foxes.”

It’s easily the most accessible among the 10 tracks.

“The Silicone Veil” is Sundfør’s third album.

She started out as a conventional piano-based musician, which earned her comparisons to the usual suspects such as Joni Mitchell and Carole King.

But gradually, she’s evolved into a more complex and stubbornly original songwriter.

The synthesizer is the prominent instrument this time around.

Sundfør’s voice is powerful and expressive.

It’s easy to image Stevie Nicks facing a post-apocalyptic landscape, facing the wasteland singing her heart out.

But Susanne Sundfør isn’t all about doom and gloom.
