Though I am an outsider to Spain, I can speak with some
authority, of the value such a majestic project would bring to Spain. I lived
in the area and worked on one of Sands Hotel construction project. Let’s put aside the fact that Spain’s
unemployment is near 25%. Let’s put aside all of the failed small businesses
and lost homes and personal savings. Let’s also put aside the fact that Spain
is known as the prostitution capital of Europe and that 39% of Spanish men
admit the use of prostitutes. Such a
majestic project will bring prosperity to hundreds of thousands of local
Spanish residence. It’s true that in any constructions industry, work ends when
the project is completed. But just take a minute to think about the length of
this project… ten to twelve years of construction. This is not to mention the
magnificent opportunity for sustainable employment in the resort industry.
Let’s also think for a moment about the benefits of the regional
residents. Local business with see such
an increase activity they have never seen. Local properties will by virtue
increase in value once again. Can you imagine how many other countries would
want such a project to provide sustainable employment and billions of Euros of
cash flow channeled through their country? My hopes are with the hearts of the
Spanish people who finally have a way in
mprove their lives! You need only to search the web and learn about the growing
prostitution trade. News articles cite 370,000 women are now in the business in
Spain. I say this not as a derogatory statement toward Spain, only that I have
read opposition to the Sands Casino EuroVegas project because of their concern
about organized crime and prostitution. The opposition makes it sound like the
trade does not exist. This is not a valid reason to oppose such a majestic
opportunity for Madrid. The peripheral benefits for residents will be
incredible. Also, let us not lose sight of our roots. When a person does not
have any hope of employment, then a project such as this offers the ability to
improve one’s life… this is good for this person and good for the country… Is there a double standard for "Barcelona World".. Whay is this casino project ok... and not Eurovegas?

I think that Euro Vegas is a great idea! With unemployment being at 25%, Spain needs whatever it can get to create more jobs, even if it does mean breaking rules. The jobs that this is predicted to create would greatly reduce the unemployment rate in Spain and help bring in more money. This would greatly help the economy.

I'm all for casinos! Yes, one may debate that they'll bring crime and prostitution but doesn't that already exist? Now you're just simply bringing it out of the woodwork as an excuse not to build this. If the country has the means to build these massive casinos and resorts, then let them. If they do end up building this, it gives me all the more reason to use my Spanish, visit Spain, and gamble off a few Euros.

I think the Euro Vegas is a good idea because there are so many job
opportunities and tourists which will help Spain's economy a lot. I'm
not sure though if it's worth having to break their own tobacco laws and
the Euro Vegas strip will bring in a lot more crime.

I think a Euro Vegas in Spain is both a good and bad idea. I think it is a good idea because it will bring jobs to a a country with a 25% unemployment rate. Also it can attract tourists to the country which will in turn bring money. It is a bad idea because it can bring corruption and prostitution like in Las Vegas. Also in order to have Euro Vegas in Spain they would have to be exempt from certain laws, which includes anti-smoking laws (which i find very important).

This was a frustratingly awful geo-quiz! I hear Madrid and I think I have a chance at getting this one, but the only clue is that it is "city on the outskirts of Madrid." So I'm left with at about 10 cities to guess from and no further geographical clues to narrow it down!
